Some Recent Dining in Korat

A few recent dining experiences in Korat:

Khao Kha Moo - Stewed pork leg over rice. The proprietress of this small roadside restaurant serves this dish and this dish only. Each day she cooks five pork shanks and serves them up in this traditional way. Great flavor. Low Price. When they're gone, she packs up.

This is at Kruea Khun Ya, a restaurant not far from our house that we've been visiting for six or seven years. This is laap moo (spicy chopped pork) and tom yam gai (spicy chicken soup).

They used this glass at Kruea Khun Ya. One wonders where they got it. I've never seen Kickapoo Joy Juice in Thailand. I doubt anyone around remembers Li'l Abner....

This is Kruea Mam Kapi. Great Thai food. Unfortunately, everyone knows this so it can be a long wait.

This is Kruea Som Tam. We recently discovered this place and now eat here often; munching our way through the menu. This is batter fried taptim (tilapia) smothered in som tam (spicy papaya salad). Really good.

Plain old fried rice at a place with No Name. It's perhaps the tastiest fried rice I've ever had. I'm not sure what the secret is. Maybe a bit of tomato sauce or paste? Anyway, really good and a huge portion for about a dollar. The big jar holds prik nam pla - fish sauce with sliced chilies and garlic.
